Bread and Butter
You may have wondered about the name Bread and Butter and what it might have to do with pickles. It would seem that a closer look at the history of this sweet pickle would explain the name. A subset of the sweet pickle genre, Bread and Butter pickles dates back to the 1920s.
First created by the couple Omar and Cora Fanning. The clever Mrs. Fanning traded her pickles to her local grocer in return for such staples as "bread and butter." And so the name was born; and the pickle lovers among us are still reaping the benefits to this day.
