Forget the squares of neon-orange “cheese food” that have somehow come to represent American cheese as a whole. Instead prepare to experience a whole host of other tasty cheeses that are much more delicious than their processed counterpart, yet still decidedly American. American cheesemaking is rooted in European tradition. In fact, the first true American cheese is Cheddar made from cultures brought over from England on some of the very first boats to the new world. Depending on how sharp and firm you like your cheese, we have a range of cheddars that will suit any palate. Though there are many excellent American interpretations of European classics, there are also plenty of creative new options that originated right here in the states! Blue cheeses like Bayley Hayden Blue may be a riff on European methods but are decidedly their own, boasting flavors and terroir that can only be found in America. O’Banon Bourboned Chevre is wrapped in liquor soaked chestnut leaves, incorporating an ancient tradition with modern flavors and ingredients. When it comes to cheeses the reinterpretation achieved by applying old world methods with new ingredients has created a product arguably superior to the original! And numerous prestigious cheese competitions have proven that these fabulous american cheeses can rival the best in Europe!
